Drove into Weymouth to have a look around.  Went along the foreshore to the North Harbour, then tried to get to the island offshore (there is a causeway) but got lost a couple of times.  We finally made it across the causeway to the Isle of Portland.  It is where Portland Stone is quarried.  It is a very high island, there is a great view from the top back across to the mainland,

we had morning tea at the highest point.  Many of the buildings are built of the stone.  There is also a prison on the island, we drove up to it along a very windy road.

We headed back to Weymouth and had lunch, then we walked around Weymouth having a look at the shops and the great old buildings for about three hours.

We headed home late afternoon.  It starts getting dark here at about 1630.
