A slow start today.
We wanted to ring Vera Gibbens to see if we could visit her as she has
the same Martin ancestors as Jude and we didn’t want to ring before about
0930. Jude spoke to Vera and arranged to
meet her on Saturday mid-morning (both Vera and Jude were very excited about
the meeting).
Having made that arrangement, we then booked accommodation
for the rest of the holiday.
We then headed off to look for fossils at Ringstead, just
east of Weymouth. After heading down a
little winding narrow lane we came to a few houses on the beach (pebble
beach). We wandered along the beach
toward some cliffs, on the way we met an old guy (at least as old as us!) and
had a long chat with him during which he gave us some tips on how to find the
fossils.
A little later and a little further along the beach we
actually found a fossil!
We had a
celebratory cup of tea and headed into Weymouth for a late lunch. Found a little restaurant in a hotel where
all the people seemed to be at least our age.
As we didn’t want a large lunch we decided to have the “All Day Breakfast”.
Mistake, it was huge. Two eggs, two sausages, two large rashers of bacon,
a big dollop of baked beans, mushrooms, tomato and a huge serving of chips!!
Neither of us could finish it.
We then had a walk-through Weymouth and picked up some dinner
and headed home about 1600.
