We had a slow start to the day again. It was a bit overcast and showery. But not to be deterred we packed a picnic
lunch and the thermos and headed off for a walk (well we drove there and then
we were going to walk). When we got to
the start of the walk it was mountain goat country and the rain had go quite
heavy so we just kept driving along the little narrow lane (Jude didn’t like
the driving much because there always seemed to be a vertical drop from her
side of the road) with lots of blind corners and long stretches where you
couldn’t pass.
After a while we found ourselves up on a ridge overlooking
quite a picturesque valley so we decided to stop and have lunch, in the car, as
it was still raining and by this stage the wind was quite strong. While we were eating our lunch a little red Royal
Mail van drove down the track in front of us and delivered some mail to a farm.
After lunch we set the NavMan to take us home, we dutifully
followed instructions until we were directed to turn down a little lane that
had a sign on it “No suitable for vehicular traffic”, we ignored that and kept
driving. Quite quickly the NavMan had
worked out another route and we got home after being away for about three and
half hours. As it turned out we had done
a big loop.
Jude spent the rest of the afternoon reading while I fiddle with
a program to load the NavMan and data logger tracks into Google Maps.
Pizza for tea tonight.
