Today we drove to seven villages where Jude’s ancestors ( Sutton and Swinfen) originated from.

Our first stop was Leire, we found the church open with a couple of people there handing out cups of tea and biscuits.  After asking a few questions a phone call was made and the local historian came down to the church.  She had a folder with lots of Sutton family tree information in it.  It turns out one of Jude’s direct ancestors was the Pastor at St Peters in Leire and there are several Sutton graves in the churchyard.  Sadly his headstone is in the toilet now and difficult to read!!

We then went on to HIncley, Stoke Golding, Sutton Cheney, Cadeby, Market Bosworth and Newbold Verdon.  Stopping at churches, but we didn’t find out much more information.
