On the way out of Edinburgh we went past 12 Pennywell Road, Edinburgh, Scotland where STEWART (nee BURKE) Georgina Dickson (Georgie) was born and took a photo of the house!

We then headed across the new Firth of Forth bridge and on up to Dunkeld to try and shed some light on John Stewart who died there in 1857.  On the way we saw a sign to a weaving factory and decided to take a detour and have a look.  It was an impressive factory that has had some of the buildings turned into apartments.  Leaving a small museum housed in a building which is said to be the first red brick building in the world and the first multi-storey factory.  It was originally driven by water wheels then in about 1920 a hydroelectric turbine was installed to power the factory.  This is where we first encountered the River Tay

Had some morning tea and continued on to Dunkeld.  Found the information centre where the lady was very helpful and showed us where Little Tombane Farm was on the map.  We had some lunch in the Royal Dunkeld Hotel and headed off the farm.  After a few false starts we managed to find it.  The building is now in good repair and has been extended from the earlier photos we had, but it is still the same building.  Had a chat to the previous owner who now lives next door.  The current owners are a Scot and an Australian or New Zealander depending on who you talk to.  The Tombane Burn (creek) runs past.

While we were there we saw a couple of men going falconing for grouse.

On the way back to Dunkeld we took a side road to go past a small cemetery where we had been told that John Stewart might be buried, but we couldn’t find him.  Driving along the road from there we saw lots wild pheasants running around.

When we got back to the hotel in Perth we had dinner at a Pub next to the Hotel.  Then had a look at John Stewart’s death certificate and saw that he was buried in Grandtully.  We found it on the map and intend to go to the church/cemetery there tomorrow.
