Had a slow start then headed to Edinburgh. Left the highways and found ourselves of the
roads very much less travelled along the coast up and down little
laneways. We went a long way down some
where I’m not sure what we would have done if we had met another car coming the
other way!! At one point we were going
down a very steep lane were the stuff was brushing either sided of the
car. When we got to the bottom there was
a ford to go across and then a very steep narrow climb out the other side. Along the way there was a really, really bad smell,
it was like rotting cow manure. But it was
coming from the field.
We also saw more golf courses in about 10 miles than I’ve
seen anywhere else before, they were everywhere!!
We stopped by a little inlet and had morning tea while
watching a man mow the grass along the foreshore.
Then on into Edinburgh and straight to out accommodation and
leave the car then bus into town. We got
there at about 1100, it turned out the room was ready so we checked in had
lunch. Hopped on the bus and went into
the City had a look around then got on the Big Red Bus and did a lap of the
City sights. A very interesting
place. Edinburgh Castle dominates the
city in all directions and is quite magnificent. There are a lot of grand buildings, statures
and monuments. The only thing is that
they all have the grey streaky old limestone look which makes the whole place
look rather drab. But I think the nicest
city we have been in so far.
By and large a great day, quite warm an sunny.
Before going home again we bought Don some jocks and socks
and a couple of pre-prepared meals for dinner.
Back home had dinner.
