Breakfast for the 2 of us cost £2.18!!!
Driving to Cambridge we got a little misplaced, but the NavMan
saved us from ourselves!
First impressions are that it is a very old historic town with
many old buildings and churches.
Had a little trouble finding tourist information, but finally
found it. There are men in suits and
bowler hats who are tourist helpers mostly in the centre of town. Driving around town is…well interesting! The streets are twisty and very narrow and
many intersections at odd angles with lots of bikes and buses. Students are not allowed to have a car within 5
miles of the University. Bikes and
pedestrians seem to have right of way. Had
lunch sitting on the banks of the River Cam watching long boats and white swans
near a lock. Hopped on a Big Red Tourist
bus and did a lap to get the lay of the land and find out what there was to
see. We walked into the centre of town to buy a few things and looking for somewhere to eat. In the end wandered back and had dinner at a local Pub. We have chosen a few places to see and things
to do, tomorrow we will hop on the Big Red bus again and hop off and on to see
what we want to (the ticket is good for 24 hours).
Checked into our B&B it’s a bit down the low end of the
market. The whole ensuite is smaller
than the average toilet!
