0405 Woken by alarm.
0615 Woken by alarm!
An auspicious start to the day!
We left the hotel about 0815 and headed to Elgin. We found the Johnstone weaving mill where
they weave cashmere, Mohair, Camel and Alpaca wool into very fine
products. They say they source only the
best bits of the fleece. A scarf can set
you back £200
and a dressing gown £600. We did a tour
of the production line which was great and a fantastic deal as it was free and
there were only 4 of us on it.
From there we drove on down to Inverness and tried to find a
boat ride on Loch Ness…failed so we had lunch looking over a great stretch of
water that turned out to be Firth. Then
we asked a bus driver about how we could get to a boat ride. He told us the name of a town,
Drumnadrochit. Luckily it was easier to
find than it is to spell!! We arrived
just 10 minutes before the next boat ride left.
It was a pleasant ride, but we failed to see even a hint of Nessy. The boat ride lasted about 3 hours and
showcased the great scenery around the loch.
A very relaxing 3 hours, except I had to tell an eastern European lady
that it would be great if she sat down so the rest of the people could see the
view.
When we got off the boat there were 3 Highland Cattle
grazing in the paddock next to the carpark.
Jude couldn’t resist a few photos.
We then headed for our digs for the night in Fort William,
we came across a great memorial to the British Commandos during World War 2 on
the way and got there about 1830. A
little underwhelming to say the least!
Out to an Indian restaurant for a curry.
Will probably sleep well tonight after the early start.
