Today we headed into Oxford in time to catch the first Big
Red Bus so we could use our ticket from yesterday to get to some of the places
we wanted to go.
Bodleian Libraries and had a look at some of the treasures
they hold. Many old books dating back to
the 14th and 15th centuries, an original copy of the
Magna Carta and some very old illustrated books. Really interesting! From there we walked around to the Museum of
Natural History. What a great place. Not only an amazing collection but it is
housed in a very interesting building.
We then walked back to the Museum of the History of Science,
it was now open. Very interesting, but a
lot of the exhibition is focused on astronomical instruments ancient and modern
with some chemistry, but very little electric or electronic.
By now it was lunch.
We found a café in the top of a bookshop that was very nice (many of the
establishments here of all different types seem to have a café hidden away in
them.
After lunch we walked around town while Jude looked in some shops…we
went to the Alice shop (of Alice in Wonderland fame).
By the time we got home we had been wandering around Oxford for
about 7 hours!
