Drove from York north towards Newcastle Up Tyne. Great drive through the country. Saw a sign James Herriot, the TV vet. Thirsk was a quaint little village and very
busy, everyone seemed to know each other.
They had a lot of knitted things around the town that are a hangover
from the Tour De France in 2016. Went
the Herriot museum, but refused to pay £17 each to get in. Had a bit of morning tea and headed off
again.
I think we took a turn we shouldn’t have because we lost the
road we were heading to Newcastle on. No
matter it was a pleasant drive anyway.
Stopped in a small village by a public walking track and had
lunch. People seemed to be bemused by
us.
It was a bit slow going when we got to the outskirts of Newcastle. Then we took a wrong turn and found ourselves
heading across a bridge we didn’t need to go over, another wrong turn and we
were in a tunnel we didn’t need to be in.
There we were in some very complicated central city streets and
diabolical traffic.
However, we survived and eventually found out Travelodge
hotel for the night.
After we arrived we heard about the terrorist attack in London,
thank goodness we are several hundred miles away and not affected.
Just discovered that the hotel has charged us twice and
asked the desk to sort it out!!
Tomorrow we will probably bus into Newcastle and have a
wander around.
Presume your having fun and off the tube
